If the intention of training is a quick response and easy administration, the answer is yes.

The crew change is a moment where both crew sets can be reached, and in such a case, you have an opportunity to arrange courses for both crews.

Practically, such training courses can be arranged at a meeting room of a local hotel. Airport hotels are an especially good option because these locations often provide an opportunity to easily return home or go back to the ship just after the course.

This model was tested at Oslo Airport, where the Radisson Blu Airport Hotel is just a few minutes walk from the terminal.

Using the portable training and simulator set, ECDIS operator or instructor courses can be arranged at any airport or location worldwide.

The approaching implementation date for a mandatory installation of the ECDIS seems to motivate marine crews to seek out urgent, short noticed, type-specific ECDIS courses and certifications worldwide.
